Class Procedures

 

                Class will start at 7:30 p.m. sharp. You should get to class get to class at least five minutes early to help set up the mats.

                 

                When the mats are set up every one should sit comfortably or in seiza. Sensei will clap for every one to line up. As every one lines up they should sit in seiza. Sensei will then turn to face the Shomen and bow, every one bows at the same time, he will then turn to face the class and as he bows he will say “onegaeshimasu”, meaning I am ready to practice.

 

                Next the class will do stretches and then Aiki Tiaso

 

                After Aiki Tiaso the class will then line up facing the shomen, Sensei will then call up a student and demonstrate a technique, the class will then pair up and practice the demonstrated technique. Sensei will clap twice when it is time to line up. Every one should sit seiza as long as they can so it can stretch out there knees and ankles. Sensei will then demonstrate another technique.

 

                When it gets close to 9:00 the class will line up to bow out. Sensei will face the class and the turn to face shomen he will bow and every one will bow at the same time, Sensei will then turn and face the class, as he bows to the class he will say “thank you for practicing”, the class will respond as they bow with “thank you Sensei”. This should be said with energy and a little excitement.

 

                The class will then put the mats away, and clean up anything else that was brought out for the class.
